My first encounter with orangutans, a unique and incredible species of primate, offered me an experience like no other. The particular behavior of these great apes, especially when a male approaches gently before giving a small charge, can be truly breathtaking. The experience of these encounters gave me a better understanding of the similarities and differences between humans and orangutans. Proximity to these primates fosters a sense of connection and empathy, as we recognize the complex intelligence and emotions they possess.
